About the Author
Judy Hails has taught in the criminal justice field for over 40 years. She has authored five textbooks on criminal evidence, criminal law, and criminal procedure as well as contributing to anthologies and writing numerous journal articles. She received the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award in 1998. She has been a visiting professor at the China Criminal Police College and Illinois State University, and an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She is a former sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Her education includes: B.S. in mathematics from Loma Linda University, M.S. in criminology from CSU-Long Beach, J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, and LL.M. in criminal justice from New York University School of Law.

Good text book. Great for aspiring lawyers

The book is loaded with critical material. The author shows an insane amount of knowledge and there are examples given for all concepts. The only issue I have with it is it is written more like a penal code than a book at times and the legal terminology is a bit tough for a green student like me. Overall a good book stacked with info and examples but a little hard to understand at times.

Great Textbook

Easy Text. Short chapters. It's a really interesting topic that the authors make slightly dull, but it's really not too bad. The chapters don't take long to read, being about 25 pages on average. Don't write your class off if you're assigned this book, this is an easy one!

I chose this rating because it is a rental and the book is in great condition almost brand new, only one small defect , but i was assuming the book was going to loo worse, I recommend this book whether you're taking the class that requires the book or not, is knowledge you can use, especially it helps alot if you want to exercise a career out of it,
