Definitely not a reissue...

I bought this book with some trepidation. I feared that this was merely a reissue of the first "Super Drawings in 3D" from 2007 which also featured the North Carolina. Nothing wrong with reissues but Kagero does have a history of "double dipping"...trying to get buyers to buy the same product twice by not making a reissue clear. I'm happy to report that that is not the case in this instance. The contents are completely different.

The book is a stapled card cover of 80 internal pages (compared to 48 for the previous North Carolina book). The book is in 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" European A4 size. There is an unbound foldout so, as always, make sure this is included if buying second hand.

The book has a mere 5 pages devoted to text; there were many more in the previous book. The rest is devoted to the CAD images of the ship as she appeared in Measure 32 camouflage in September 1944. The centerspread has an an interesting comparison of all three classes of modern US battleships.

The unbound foldout has conventional five view line drawings in 1/350th with details at various scales on the reverse. All in all, this foldout is a major improvement over the one in the first book.

In summary, this is a step up from the first book and indeed they complement each other nicely. I can highly recommend this book whether one has the previous book or not.

Coffee-table Battleship

The illustrations are superb. I have been aboard the Battleship North Carolina berthed permanently in Wilmington, North Carolina, many times and the illustrations faithfully reproduce the ship as she appears today. I consider her to be one of the most beautiful ships ever built. While the Iowa class battleships are much larger, the North Carolina has a more pleasing profile and appears more nimble. The placement of her stacks and the layout of her secondary and anti-aircraft weapons are superb. The views of the ship by Mr. Draminski are flawless.

As always with this series - very good. Excellent drawings, plenty of detail valuable for the modeller, and of interest to anyone who wants to imagine walking the decks of a modern battleship. And, of course, good of Kagero to reissue this hitherto unavailable volume.

This book intends to provide grounds for further research on electronic system level design (ESL), by means of open-source artifacts and tools, thereby stimulating the unconstrained deployment of new concepts, tools, and methodologies. It devises ESL design from the pragmatic perspective of a SystemC-based representation, by showing how to build and how to use ESL languages, models and tools.

This work is based on the successful experience acquired with the conception of the architecture description language (ADL) ArchC, the development of its underlying tool suite, and the building of its platform modeling infrastructure. With more than 10,000 accesses per year since 2004, the dissemination of ArchC models has reached not only students in need of proper infrastructure to develop their research projects, but also commercial designers in need of processor models to build virtual platforms using SystemC.

Boost Your Confidence -- Ehh, not so much

This book starts off with a bang - gets your blood going and you think oh wow this is going to be great. Eh, not so much. As you get into the book you realize the author is repeating the same ideas over and over. What started out as an exciting book quickly drifts off into the repetition of old ideas. I was very excited to get the book however the more I got into it the less interesting it became. I found myself skipping pages and moving quickly to the end...and was not feeling inspired nor did I feel any more confident than I did when I started the read. I can not recommend this book. :(

I just read 100 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence by Dr. Barton Goldsmith. Being hard to impress, I came away with such a feeling of having spent my time very well reading his book. It is a simple, but chock filled cookie jar of useful tips and explanations of how we can all reach higher and land higher as well. Every paragraph is full of informed guidance information for navigating today's often troubled waters at work and play. I especially liked Chapter 13 on "Nobility."

Read this book and you will be instantly energized.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!

This book took me by surprise. I didn't know what to expect, but boy was I happy I took the chance on this book. Ryder or "Rye" was the man. He told it like it was, and later,for the rest. He was everything you would want in a hero of a book. Lacey kept me on pins & needles towards the end, but she regrouped and got her act together. I hope we see a book about Monica, and Lisa I would love to read about them. If this was the authors first book awesome job!!!!!

Lots of people in the Facebook group I'm part of were raving about it. At first, I balked at the price but when I peeked at the sample and saw the table of contents, I knew not to take to take Amazon's wonky pagination. Anyway, I loved Rye. The perfect mix of Alpha and sweet. The drama in the book was realistic and flowed well with the story. I loved loved Lacey's sister, Lisa, and her cousin, Monica. If the author would consider writing a love story with those two characters, I'd happily buy them. Give this book a read. I will definitely buy this author's work again. Well done.

Story falters under a sometimes unsympathetic heroine and too much porny sex

Before I got this book, I read the sample and was cautiously optimistic. There were no glaring typographic or grammatical errors. The premise seemed interesting. I love the friends-to-lovers trope. I really enjoy reading about smart, urbane professionals of which both Lacey and Rye were. It took place in Atlanta, so it sidestepped the small-town thing that is a bit overdone. So, yeah, I was happy.

However my problems begin very early on with the book. Before you can blink an eye Rye and Lacey go from longtime friends enjoying a friendly celebratory embrace to him having her top off and he's suckling on her breasts. In a public place.

The sex in this book is pervasive. There is a lot of it. I would venture to guess that approx. 70% this book is sex related. Either Lacey and Rye are having it or someone is talking about it or they are busily clenching/getting hot/wet/hard thinking about it.

Now, truthfully a lot of sex in a book does not bother me. I like and read a lot of erotica. I actually prefer my romances to have open-door sex scenes. So it isn't the sex per se that bothers me. It is the bad sex that bothers me. This book is chock full of poorly, crudely and rather purple-y written sex scenes. The sex should have made me hot and bothered on Lacey & Rye's behalf. But it didn't I kept giggling or rolliing my eyes at them.

I could have tolerated the bad sex if the story had been strong enough to overcome it. But sadly there wasn't enough of it to really sink into. And what there was of it felt full of tropes.

Lacey and Rye start out as Lacey insists :"no strings, no rings" But within one chapter Lacey is fretting about being nothing but a booty call. She's beginning to fall in love but worries about her family and what people will think.

As well she should, oddly her family were very resistant even though they'd known Rye all his life. And then there is a scheming other woman and Lacey's lack of consistency from chapter to chapter.

The one bright spot in this book is Rye. Even through all the alpha-male chest thumping and "Whose p***y is this!?" demands, he is actually a pretty good character. He is gone over Lacey and makes no bones about it. He wants a real relationship, he shows her in every way he wants her. He is a decent guy and tries to convince Lacey they have a future.

But Lacey falls into one of my pet peeve traps. While Rye is jumping through hoops to show that he is in this for the long haul, she is distrustful and illogical and really can't see what is in front of her face. I found her very hard to root for.

it is obvious this author knows how to write. I just wish the story had been more engaging and the sex less pervasive.
